Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management proudly recognizes

David Ingram, Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient

David B. Ingram, MBA '89

for his achievements in advancing the school’s mission.

Since graduating from Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management in 1989, David Ingram has transformed both the business community and the Owen community through his outstanding generosity, inspiring leadership and business acumen. As chairman and president of Ingram Entertainment Inc., and chairman of DBI Beverage Inc., he has established himself as an innovative and dynamic leader capable of steering companies into national prominence and industry acclaim. David’s focused efforts have moved Ingram Entertainment to the forefront of each market it serves.

An extraordinary volunteer and community leader, David has dedicated himself to promoting Owen’s mission. Since 2002 David has chaired the Shape the Future Campaign at Owen. Surpassing the initial campaign goal of $60 million, Owen will have raised more than $80 million in gifts and pledges by the campaign end of June 30, 2011. In 2006, David was named the inaugural chair of the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management Board of Visitors. With Board of Visitor support and encouragement, Dean Bradford and his executive team have launched new academic programs including the Health Care MBA and additional degree offerings such as the Masters of Science in Finance and the Masters of Accountancy. David’s civic and philanthropic contributions reach far beyond Owen as he has orchestrated success for countless other not-for-profits near and far.

Through David’s philanthropic support of the E. Bronson Ingram Scholarship, the Ingram Family Scholarship, and the Dean Samuel B. and Evelyn R. Richmond Scholarship, countless students today and for generations to come will have the opportunity to pursue graduate education because of these scholarship endowments. Moreover, he has helped the school to recruit and support outstanding faculty leaders by endowing seven chairs.

Therefore, let it be known that Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management confers on David Ingram the honor of Distinguished Alumnus on this sixteenth day of April, in the year two thousand and eleven, in Nashville, Tennessee.
