Analysts say social-networking workshops help organizations learn how to use social media to win customers and donors. And the programs are lucrative for the training companies, too: Some classes cost several hundred dollars to attend. "The problem with this whole area is people promote themselves as experts, but people who are really smart know there is no such thing as an expert in this area yet," said JENNIFER ESCALAS,an associate professor of marketing at Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management.
