Youth About Business (YAB) was founded in 1992. The program was founded as a project of Creating an Environment of Success (CES), a Tennessee based 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation. Beginning with only seven student participants, YAB is now the primary program with students participating from Tennessee, Texas, New York, and a strategic plan to establish this innovative, entrepreneurial training program nationwide.
Their mission is to provide an entrepreneurial training program to youth that will enrich the lives of program participants. Their program exposes youth to successful entrepreneurs as well as provides hands on training through the YAB Training Centers. Their goal is to give our youth participants a unique learning opportunity that will enhance their educational endeavors, as well as equip them with a better understanding of how to become effective leaders.
Their program prepares students with all the mechanics of how to successfully run a business. They have an established curriculum that volunteers help execute in the form of training portions of the program. The long-term goal of YAB is to establish training work sites nationwide that will offer practical skill development and opportunities to students. Alumni have enrolled in schools such as: University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Florida A&M, Fisk, John Hopkins, Howard, Kentucky State, Morehouse, Emory, Spelman, Babson, Hampton, Sewanee and many other colleges and universities.
