The WBA plans activities throughout the year to promote peer and faculty interaction. These events focus on developing students’ business acumen, providing networking opportunities, as well as offering social and recreational options.
WBA Welcome Social:
The welcome social serves as a kick-off event for the WBA each fall. This event offers first- and second-year WBA members the opportunity to become acquainted with one another in a friendly, stress-free environment. The 2007 year kicked off with a swimming party. 2008 was off to great start with a wine social at Cabana's.
WBA Speed Dating:
This year the WBA hosted the first annual speed dating event. No, this was not a way to find a date for the weekend. This fun event served as an opportunity for the first and second year women to quickly get to know something about each other. This helped to lay the foundation for networking between the two classes. Just remember, the 2nd years were in your shoes just a year ago and can be a great resource to help you write your cover letter or prep for that big interview!
Faculty/Staff Networking Dinner:
This will be an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to network and catch up outside of Owen. Our faculty sponsor, Nancy Lea Hyer hosts this dinner in her home during the fall.
WBA Spring Social: As the second semester winds to an end and everyone is preparing to leave Owen, we get together to celebrate a successful year. This is also a time when we bid farewell to our 2nd year WBA members and wish the first years good luck in their internships. This event is a great opportunity to relax and catch-up with classmates and reflect back over the busy (and fun!) days of b-school.
Other Activities:
Additional activities are scheduled based on WBA members’ interests. These activities will include a lunch and learn speaker series and book clubs.
