The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of Entrepreneurship
Jan 27, 2009 | by Tiffany Gnau
Dr. Scott said that he believes there are certain personal qualities that make a successful entrepreneur. These include a passion for success, a fear of failure, and an out of the box idea or business plan. He also said that there are good, bad, and ugly parts of entrepreneurship. The good includes being hailed as a hero, the bad is that many ventures fail, and the ugly is the humiliation that can result. However, if after all that you want to do it again, then you are a true entrepreneur. Dr. Scott also gave his tips for success. He emphasized that timing and management were everything and told students to hire the brightest employees possible and then trust them to make decisions. Some other tips were to focus, constantly strategize, be professional, and seek counseling to keep your mind and body in top shape.
