Typically, Owen students go on exchange during the fall or spring semester of the second year of their program. Some exchange partners have summer semesters, and in some cases, exchanges may be able to be accomplished during one seven-week module of the Owen academic calendar. Tuition is paid to Owen for the semester in which a student is on exchange.

To apply
To qualify for an exchange program, students must be in good standing with Vanderbilt with all tuition bills paid and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. The application deadline is typically in April for fall exchange and in October for spring exchange.
There is a limit on the number of students Owen can send to each partner school. As a result, students are encouraged to apply for at least two programs in case they are not selected for their first choice. Selection is made using the highest GPA, with the statement of purpose being the deciding factor in case of a tie.

Curriculum and credit hours
Once enrolled in an exchange program, students are required to take a full load of classes at the host university, typically four to five classes per semester.
All course descriptions and credit hours must be reviewed by Kelly Christie, Assistant Dean of Academic Programs and Student Life, prior to departure or shortly after arriving at the host university. She will determine the number of credit hours that will transfer to Owen and count towards the Vanderbilt MBA degree.
Owen will use the grading policy of the host institution, and coursework will be transferred to the Owen transcript as Pass or Fail. Students will not receive credit for a failed class.
