Joint Degrees

Owen offers joint degree programs with other prestigious professional and graduate schools at Vanderbilt. Currently, we offer such degrees in concert with the Medical School, the Graduate School, the Law School, the School of Engineering and the Divinity School.

There is a significant benefit of time savings in pursuing an MBA as a joint degree. The traditional MBA program requires 62 hours (4 full semesters) of course work. However, when pursued as part of a joint degree, the requirement is reduced to 50 credit hours (3 semesters), since Owen will accept 12 hours from the partner school as electives.

MBA/MDIV	Vanderbilt Divinity School	4 years (versus 5 years if completed separately)	During their first year at the Divinity School or before	Year 1: Divinity School. Year 2 plus one semester: Owen. Given the tuition arrangement at Divinity, it is recommended that you end your final semester at Divinity (paying per credit hour). Scholarship applies in the semesters when you pay Owen tuition.

Owen offers five-year undergraduate/MBA degrees with the College of Arts and Science, the School of Engineering and with Fisk University. The five-year program allows a student to earn both an MBA and an undergraduate degree within a five-year period rather than the six years that it would normally require to enroll in both programs consecutively. Acceptance into the five-year program is extremely competitive and requires transfer credit and advanced standing earned in undergraduate courses.

Undergraduate courses in statistics, financial and managerial accounting, intermediate microeconomics, and intermediate macroeconomics are essential in order to obtain waivers from core courses. Students must enroll in a full load of required first-year Owen courses in the fall semester of their fourth year to ensure that the basic requirements for continued study in management are fulfilled.
