With your application, you must include a separate official or unofficial transcript from every college or university you listed.

Please note:
- You will be required to provide official transcripts from each institution only if you are offered admission.
- You must provide at least one final transcript that documents successful completion of a four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.
- Please submit a copy of your diploma for any university degrees you earned that are not specified on an official transcript.
If you attended a US college or university and a cumulative grade point average is not specified on the transcript for each degree earned or institution attended, please calculate your cumulative GPA using the following four-point scale:
| A = 4.0 | B- = 2.7 | D+ = 1.3 |
| A- = 3.7 | C+ = 2.3 | D = 1.0 |
| B+ = 3.3 | C = 2.0 | D- = 0.7 |
| B = 3.0 | C- = 1.7 | F = 0.0 |
If you cannot calculate your cumulative GPA or convert it to a four-point scale, leave the field blank; we will evaluate your academic record accordingly. Students who have attended international institutions, please leave the GPA blank; do not convert.
When requesting an official transcript from a college or university you attended, ask that a sealed, official transcript be sent to you from the registrar’s office so that you can forward it, unopened, to the MBA Admissions Office with all other paper application or acceptance materials. If your college or university will not send an official transcript to you, the registrar can send one directly to the Vanderbilt MBA Admissions office.
International Transcripts
If your official or unofficial transcript is not in English, you must obtain a notarized English translation from a certified professional and submit it with the original transcript or copy. If your university retains the only official copy of your transcript, we will accept a duplicate copy certified by an officer of the university. Although we are familiar with the educational systems and grading scales of many countries, applicants who have studied at a university outside the United States may want to describe their relative academic performance and achievements (such as scores on entrance exams, class rank, academic honors, etc.) in an additional statement. Remember, please do not calculate your cumulative GPA and leave this field blank on your application.
GMAT Scores
All applicants must take the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). If you last took the test before 2003, you must take it again. We recommend that you take the GMAT before submitting your application so that you can record your scores on the forms; this will speed the processing of your file.
Because we rely on the accuracy of self-reported test scores, it is not necessary to provide an official GMAT Score Report when you apply. You will be required to have the official test scores sent to the MBA Admissions Office only if you are offered admission and you accept.
Because we prefer not to hold a completed application while waiting for new scores, you should not submit your application until you are satisfied with your test results. You will need to list Vanderbilt University as a recipient of your GMAT score on test day. Contact GMAC with questions about the GMAT by sending email to GMATCandidateServicesAmericas@pearson.com or by calling 1-800-717-GMAT (4628), 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. CT
Entrance exams for other graduate and professional schools, such as the GRE or LSAT, may not be substituted for the GMAT. No exceptions will be made, regardless of academic or professional background.
TOEFL or IELTS Scores
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required for international applicants whose native language is not English, who have not earned a university degree in an English-speaking country (not just an English-speaking institution), or who have not lived and worked in an English-speaking country for the past two or more years. If you last took the test before 2006 , you must take it again, because results are valid for only two years.
You must take the TOEFL or IELTS before submitting your application so that you can record the scores on the form. This will speed the processing of your file. Because we rely on the accuracy of self-reported test scores, you are not required to provide an official TOEFL or IELTS Score Report at the time of application.
Only if you are offered and accept admission will you be required to have ETS send official test scores to the MBA Admissions Office. You should not submit an application until you are satisfied with your test results, as we prefer not to hold applications while waiting for new scores.
Vanderbilt’s institution code is 1871. When registering for the TOEFL or the IELTS, you must also specify departmental code 02. Contact ETS with questions about the TOEFL or IELTS by sending email to toefl@ets.org or by calling 1-609-771-7100 or 1-877-863-3546, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Eastern Time
You may contact our office to request a TOEFL waiver if you (1) have earned an undergraduate degree in a country where the official language is English (not just an English-speaking institution or just a country where English is spoken), or (2) have lived and worked in an English-speaking country for the past two or more years. A TOEFL waiver is automatically granted if a candidate scores 90% or higher on the verbal component of the GMAT. If you last took the test more than two years prior to the date of application, you must take it again, because results are valid for only two years.
