The following estimated student budget is considered sufficient to support a basic lifestyle for a single student. It does not include expenses for dependents, travel, vacations, or luxury items such as automobiles, household furniture, or appliances. A preferred higher standard of living, inflation, and emergencies may necessitate additional funds. The estimated total cost of education for the 2009-2010 academic year is $65,664.00:
- Tuition: $41,792.00
- Books & Supplies: $1,720.00
- Rent & Utilities: $9,170.00
- Meals: $3,730.00
- Personal Expenses (includes clothing allowance, University health insurance fee, and activity/recreation fee, and a one time transcript fee): $5,090.00
- Transportation: $1,810.00
- Wireless Laptop Fee (nonrecurring): $1,200.00
- Loan Origination Fees (U.S. only): $802.00
- Orientation Fee (nonrecurring): $350.00
The amount for rent and utilities outlined in the student budget reflects a living situation in which a student shares the expenses of a two-bedroom apartment with a roommate. Please note that this budget does not include moneys to cover living expenses for a significant other or dependents for whom you may be responsible for supporting, including childcare expenses. In order to account for the increased cost of attendance due to dependent childcare expenses, please contact the Office of Financial Aid directly in order to have your budget increased by the appropriate amount.
Health insurance is required for all students and all family members. You will be billed automatically for the university’s student health insurance plan if you do not provide proof of adequate coverage by another insurer. The automatic coverage does not account for spouses or dependents and you may be subject to additional healthcare costs for spouses and dependents. However, if you can show that you will have insurance by the submission deadline, you can have this expense waived.
