Prior to earning his MBA at the Cox School of Business and joining Vanderbilt in May 2003, John served as a change management consultant for Andersen Business Consulting. His consulting work placed him on engagements in Sweden, France, Germany, China, Japan, the Philippines, Australia, South Africa, and all over the US. John previously served as the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions at SMU in Dallas, TX, where he helped to lead SMU to its highest enrollment in 22 years. He also spent 10 years working for the Dallas Cowboys professional football organization’s media relations department, performing post-game interviews, preparing game notes, and assisting broadcast personalities on Sundays throughout the fall. John accepted the role of Director of Admissions in 2006. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, but grew up in Michigan, Colorado, and Virginia.

Amy Johnson has been with Vanderbilt University for 6 years, originally working with undergraduate students interested in business careers at the Vanderbilt Career Center. Since Fall 2004, Amy has been in charge of creating new programs at Owen. She managed the design and development of the MS Finance (MSF) and Accelerator programs, including Admissions, Career Management and program implementation. Currently, Amy is focusing on program administration for the MSF program as well as the new Master of Accountancy program (MAcc) at Owen that began Fall of 2007. Amy enjoys spending time with her family and loves to read and travel in her spare time.

Kat Buckspan

A Nashville native, Kat Buckspan returned to her hometown in 2005 to attend the Owen Graduate School of Management, concentrating in Marketing and Operations. This move came after living in Maine for seven years, during which time Kat earned a B.A. in Studio Art and Art History from Bowdoin College and subsequently managed the Wiscasset Bay Gallery. She also worked seasonally as an instructor for the Voyageur Outward Bound School, an experiential learning institution. It was this role as an educator that drove Kat to high involvement with the Leadership Development Program during her time at Owen. She also took leadership positions on the Honor Council, the Distinguished Speaker Series, and the Women’s Business Association. Upon graduation, Kat was thrilled to take a position as Associate Director of Admissions. Kat is an avid athlete who successfully completed the 2007 Ironman Wisconsin Triathlon and also enjoys rock climbing and telemark skiing.

Lauren Frazier Rowe

In 1997, Lauren obtained a B.A. in Public Policy from Duke University. Upon graduation, she put her degree to use as the Director of Operations and Legislative Assistant in the Washington, D.C. office of Rick Boucher, U.S. House of Representative from Virginia. After two years, she joined ITAA where she worked with Internet technology companies to develop private industry friendly legislation. In 2001, Lauren returned to academia at Owen where she concentrated in Operations and Strategy. While at Owen, Lauren served in a variety of roles in the Women’s Business Association and the Strategy Club. As a "job changer," she found an opportunity to work at The Home Depot's Store Support Center in Atlanta, Georgia as a Business Operations Analyst. Lauren has been a part of the Vanderbilt MBA Admissions team since January 2005.

Consuela Knox earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Tennessee. She then accepted an Industrial Engineering position with Delphi Corporation in Athens, Alabama. Her major responsibilities included work load distribution, facilities layout, operator-machine interface design and redesign, and ergonomic analyses. In order to make a career transition into the field of human resources, Consuela entered the Vanderbilt MBA program with a concentration in Human and Organizational Performance. She served as Co-President of the Human and Organizational Performance Association, VP of Owen Black Students Association, and VP of the Christian Business Fellowship. Upon graduation in May 2004, she accepted a position with Owen as Associate Director of Admissions. In June 2008, Consuela accepted the position of Senior Associate Director and Diversity Recruiting Manager for MBA Admissions. She enjoys dancing, outdoor sports, and involvement in Christian ministry.

After graduating from WVU in 1993, Betsy moved to North Carolina and worked as the Promotions Director for the Koury Corporation’s Hotels and Convention Centers Division in Greensboro. Transitioning to agency-side marketing and advertising, she then relocated to Louisville, Kentucky, and continued her career as a Media Planner for 4Front and Kupper Parker FSM. After a few years in corporate and agency marketing, she realized she missed being on a college campus and pursued her Masters degree. Since graduating with her M.Ed. degree, Betsy has worked with students at the University of Maryland-College Park, Carnegie Mellon University, and at Vanderbilt University, where she has worked since March of 2005. Betsy is an avid fitness fanatic and is currently pursuing certifications to teach cardio strength classes. In addition to working out, she enjoys motorcycling and traveling.

Sue Miller

Sue has been at Vanderbilt as both student and staff. She began her Vanderbilt career as director of a campus coffee house that provided a venue for fabulous musical talent and a place for students to relax on campus. This prompted Sue to want to hone her culinary skills and increase her knowledge of the hospitality industry. While finishing her studies at the Culinary Institute of America (Hyde Park, NY), Sue spent an extended stay creating pastries for the Peabody Memphis. Upon graduating from the C.I.A., she lived and worked as a chef in London. Sue returned to Nashville in 1994 to open a successful restaurant in the Green Hills area. She returned to Vanderbilt in 2000 as a part of the on-campus events office. In 2001 the MBA Admissions office was lucky to steal her away. She was born in Nashville, TN (at Vanderbilt, actually), and has lived in Memphis, New York, Florida, England and Holland.

Prior to joining Owen in January 1989, Sharon worked in the Hotel Industry for three years as a Reservations Sales Representative for Wyndham Hotels in Corpus Christi and Austin, Texas. Before working in the Hotel Industry, Sharon worked for two years at the Harris County Appraisal District in Pasadena, Texas, as a Real Property Appraisal Clerk and for eight years in the Quality Control Lab for Libby McNeill and Libby Cannery in Northern California. Sharon and her identical twin sister, Karen, were born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. Although a proud Texan, she lived in the Sacramento, California, area for 13 years and has lived in the Nashville area for the past 19 years. Sharon is married to her high school sweetheart, has four grown children and is the proud grandmother of six grandchildren. Sharon’s interests include emerging songwriters and country music.

After graduating from UGA in 2003, Courtney moved to Nashville and worked as a paralegal for Phillip Miller and Associates in East Nashville. She then packed her bags for Washington, D.C. where she continued her career as an Environmental Tort and Litigation paralegal for King & Spalding LLP. She made a move back to Nashville and decided to pursue a career in University Admissions, thus placing her here at Owen, where she has worked with the MBA Admissions office since February 2007. Courtney is an avid music fanatic and spends too much money on concert tickets and CDs. In addition to music, she enjoys traveling, reading, and running.

Emily graduated with a BS in Recording Industry Management from Middle Tennessee State University in 2006. After graduating, she worked for Bluesboro Rhythm & Blues Co. in Murfreesboro, TN as their Entertainment and Marketing Coordinator where she managed the club's marketing strategy and lead initiatives to develop innovative ways to reach Bluesboro's targeted clientele. Emily joined the Admissions team in February 2008 and is excited in her new opportunity helping Business School students learn about the Admissions Process and continue their post-graduate careers.
