 | Sean Kras Vanderbilt MS Finance Class of 2006 Stephens - Investment Banking Analyst Little Rock, AR |
What I’ll Be Doing
I will be working at Stephens as a Corporate Financial Analyst. The analyst program is generalist in nature, so I will be exposed to many different types of industries and financial products. Work will include building detailed financial models, creating presentation materials, and due diligence.
Creating Opportunities
The MS Finance program created the opportunities I was seeking to land a job in investment banking. The required coursework teaches students core and advanced finance skills at a deep level. The flexible coursework allows students to take courses that are suited to their career paths so they can obtain and succeed at the job of their choice. For myself, courses such as Corporate Value Management are particularly relevant since this course explores how to value companies and transactions using various metrics.
Opening Doors
The MS Finance program provides excellent training in finance, accounting, and quantitative methods that are essential for a finance professional. The quality of the education is excellent. Employers know that after coming out of this program you will have the skills to make a significant contribution to their organization. In a short period of time, you will learn many new and valuable skills that will open many doors in your career.
The Owen Community
The Owen community has been an immense help in achieving my goals. Student organizations have provided great opportunities to network and been a great way to learn about others’ experiences. The professors have been exceptional in their willingness to devote extra time for students wanting to explore topics in greater detail and have taken great care in developing courses that are interesting and practical. The career office has relationships with many companies looking for people with strong finance skills and has been effective in making the program visible to recruiters. They have provided guidance on how to develop a strategy for shaping your career and making the most of your time at Owen.
