What I’ll Be Doing
I will be working at DaVita Inc. in the Mergers & Acquisitions group as a Senior Financial Analyst. My job responsibilities include building financial models to value prospective acquisitions, calculating various scenarios to illustrate financial impact of deal alternatives, doing due diligence, and making presentations and recommendations to senior management.
A Dream Fulfilled
My ambition at the time of joining the Vanderbilt MS Finance program was to work either in Mergers & Acquisitions or equity research, and I am extremely happy that I was able to fulfill this desire. The offer that I got was more than I had expected, and this would have not been possible without the MS Finance degree.
The Value of the MS Finance Degree
The MS Finance program helped me develop a strong understanding of various financial and accounting concepts that were essential for me to get a job in the area I desired. The electives offered allowed me to pursue courses that interested me and were in keeping with my career objectives. The flexibility offered in the program enables one to explore different areas in finance, a feature which is unique to this program.
The Owen Community
The Owen community has been really great. I will always cherish the relationships that I have developed with fellow MSF students and MBA students. The education imparted has been of the highest quality, and learning from professors like Hans Stoll, Craig Lewis, Clifford Ball, and Debra Jeter has been truly enriching. Also, the support that I received from Amy Achterhof Johnson, the program director, has been outstanding. I have enjoyed every moment at school and I will miss not being at Owen.
Next Steps
My goals going ahead are to take the CFA-Level 1 this year and sometime in the future return to graduate school to pursue an MBA.
