Letter from the Alumni Council President

Hello Alumni Council Members,

Thank you for serving on the Owen Alumni Council. Last year, you all once again put forth a great effort to connect your classmates back to Owen. All of that hard work helped us match last year’s nine-year high in alumni giving at 21%! The line is trending in the right direction, but we can't let up now.

Alumni giving rates can be thought of as an alumni satisfaction index. Not only will increasing the alumni giving rate lead to more funding for scholarships, help with facility upgrades, and enhance the kinds of unique programming that we enjoyed as students, it would also more accurately reflect the satisfaction of alumni with their Owen experience. I hope you’ll join me in seeking to accomplish 24% alumni participation this fiscal year (FY13).

Although there continues to be much uncertainty in the world and systemic changes sweeping across many industries, it is important to find those personal anchor points that provide stability and confidence. For me, one of those anchor points is my time at Owen, which stands out as one of the most formative and enjoyable experiences in my life, both professionally and personally. Through our engagement in the Alumni Council, our relationship with Owen continues and deepens. I thank you for joining me through your own involvement and look forward to meeting and working with all of you.
