Dr. Shurney teaches in the Owen School’s Master in Health Care program. He is also Assistant Professor, Public Health/Health Policy and Chief Medical Director, Employee Health Plan at the Vanderbilt School of Medicine. As an active researcher, he has written a book, published in several journals and has given invited lectures at many professional conferences and meetings. As a prominent Vanderbilt figure he is presently active on many boards, committees, councils and task forces including American College of Lifestyle Medicine, American College of Medical Quality, The Care Continuum Alliance, The Journal of Population Health Management, National Association of Managed Care Physicians Chair and National Diabetes Education Program.
