China Trip Spring Break 2010

Mar 10, 2010 | by Cara Tragseiler

A group of Owen students recently traveled to China during spring break to learn about the complexities of doing business in China. The group comprised of both first and second year Owen students and was led by Professor Ray Friedman. The students spent a week in Shanghai working in teams on projects ranging from developing a marketing plan for a Shanghai-based noodle manufacturer to sourcing exercise equipment manufacturing for a U.S.-based company to researching the consumer mobile phone market to China. In addition, the students immersed themselves in the culture of Shanghai – sampling the local fare, taking in the magnificent lights of Shanghai, and even a night of karaoke in true Shanghai fashion. Many students also traveled to Beijing before arriving in Shanghai to visit historic sites like the Great Wall and the Forbidden City.
