On Thursday, January 12, Owen was fortunate to have Rod Gillum, former VP of Corporate Responsibility and Diversity for General Motors, speak to students and staff in honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Gillum spent nearly three decades working at GM, was influential in the creation of the MLK memorial in Washington DC, and took time to share his experiences and answer students' questions on topics from diversity to the importance of contributing to one's local community.
