Innovation Strategy
MGT 449
Course Description:
This course is designed for people interested in improving their ability to manage and lead innovation and change in complex business organizations. We will not only learn how to be more creative ourselves, but we will also gain an understanding of how to manage and lead it. While we will discuss examples of technological innovation, this is not a course about technology; rather, it is a course about managing people who are engaged in the process of innovation and change.
We will approach innovation as the process of generating, assessing, and then implementing useful and valuable ideas. As we all know, generating new ideas is relatively easy; what is hard is getting them listened to, accepted, and implemented in organizations. Our goal will be to understand how to best manage people (be they co-workers, bosses, customers, clients, friends or any other stakeholder) when innovation is the goal.
