Thistle Farms, which is working with the Vanderbilt Accelerator Summer Business Institute, is a job-training program for the women of Magdalene, a two-year residential program in Nashville created to give women who have survived lives of prostitution and addiction a second chance at life. The group is planning to expand its services beyond its bath and body product line with the launch of a coffee shop, giving the women another option for work on their roads to recovery. David Owens, professor of the practice of management and innovation, is quoted.
